things to do in redwood city

Looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the workweek while staying at Pacific Inn Redwood City? We recommend you head out to nearby Huddart Park and hit the trails.

About Huddart Park

Huddart Park is a 900 acre park that offers hiking and equestrian trails through a forested canyon within easy reach of the San Francisco Peninsula population centers.  The trails of Huddart Park traverse gulches and creeks offering awesome views of the countryside.  This wild area is a mixed redwood grove and evergreen forest with chaparral. Trees range from redwoods, oaks, laurels and firs.   The Park has deer, raccoon, squirrels and a variety of birds.  This is a natural environment and bobcats and coyotes have been observed.
Huddart Park has a rich history.  This park was once logged for its redwood groves.  Originally owned by James Huddart, a wealthy San Francisco lumberman, who deeded the property with the idea that it would become a public park.
In addition to the plentiful hiking and biking paths, Huddart Park also has barbecue pits, a playground and grassy meadows making it perfect for picnics or gatherings.
Huddart Park is located 3.5 miles from Highway 84 at 1100 Kings Mountain Road in Woodside.  Sorry, dogs are not allowed at Huddart Park.  There are several picnic areas throughout the park and an archery range.  Public restrooms are available at many trailheads.
